My husband had a heart attach 4 years ago. He has 3 stents in his heart. How long do stents last?

Stents can last a lifetime as long as the person follows the instructions of his cardiologist, stays healthy, low cholesterol, etc. in other words, the arteries cannot become clogged up with debris. You should be asking your husband's doctor about this if there is a problem, or if he is not following instructions. Usually blood thinners are recommended, an 81mg aspirin a day or depending on the person's medical history and other issues, possibly a strong blood thinner.
