Can I connect two computers to the internet using the ethernet port in the back of my cable modem for one PC and the usb port for the other?

If I remember correctly when I installed my cable modem, you can only use 1 of the connectors, either the Ethernet, or the USB. When I installed the software for the cable modem, it queried which connection was being used and set it up for that connection, and disabled the other connector. What I did was connected a wireless router to the ethernet port, which allowed me to physically connect up to 4 pc's directly to the router, and over 100 pc's/laptops/ipads/wii game consoles, etc using the wireless capabilities. Wireless routers are getting lower in price each passing day. Good luck!

No, it would create confusion with the connection. You need to get a network router. They are cheap or if you have wireless on one or more computers ask for wireless modem and you can connect that way with more then just 2.

Actually, all you should need is an Ethernet switch and configure the modem/router/PC correctly.

Hm, do we get to guess at the manufacturer and model number on the modem?

Most Internet modems also serve as a router. Normally I would expect to 4 Ethernet ports and one USB port.

The USB port would only talk to a USB transmitter plugged into a USB port on a laptop or desktop. It is a wireless connection.

    Give us some help please.
