What causes the drive belt to come of the pulley
I have a sears craftsm 42 inch electric start riding lawn mower and the drive belt keeps jumping off the pulley, the model number is 944.606180

When this kept happening to me I was told by the Sears repairman who came to my house that the belt had stretched and needed to be replaced.

Maybe he was interested in selling a belt and all that that entrailed - or maybe he was right, but I think it's a thought.

Frustrating, isn't it? I was ready to set the mower on fire, I was so frustrated!

Make sure your belt guides all close enough .the belt shouldn't be able to come between the guide and the pulley.

The belt is not slipping through the guides but coming off the back and hanging up on the spindle on the bottom side of the pulley

Are you talking about the deck drive belt or the tranny belt.
