I had sex with my boyfriend for the first time last May 9 with protection. There was just a drop of blood. Then the next day (May 10) we did it again. This time is was as if my period came. I have irregular period by the way and have PCO. Last April I didn't have my period. Also, I have cramps. So my questions are: 1). How do I know if its bleeding from sex or was it my period? 2). If from sex, how long will it last?

Having never taken a virgin myself, I can't really answer the question. What I do know is that it depends on the woman. Sometimes their hymen will bleed a lot, or not at all.

If your partner fully broke the hymen, then you shouldn't bleed after it has healed. A broken hymen is a like any other wound, it needs to heal.

I believe that Period blood is a far different shade/texture/smell than regular blood. I believe, because there is bits of tissue suspended in it, period blood is thicker and darker, and browner towards the end. You should know better than I, being a woman and all.

You could also tell by the amount of time it takes to stop. If it only takes a few minutes to an hour max, than it is a wound. If it lasts for three days that it is it a period.

I don't now what more I can say.

Also, how sure are you of your Polycystic Ovary Syndrome diagnosis?

I have an irregular period and have had PCO as well. My guess is that the bleeding is from your period and unrelated to sex. As far as I know you don't get cramps from breaking your hymen. When I have sex near the end of my period, it often causes bleeding again for an extra day or so, but it doesn't sound like this is the case for you since you didn't have a period since before April.

I had transrectal ultrasound last Jan'07. The diagnosis was that I have PCO.
