Hello,
My 16 months is not talking.. she does not listen/concentrate when we are trying to teach her. But she is very active in other activities(playing/observation/imitates our actions). I am not getting why she is not showing interest when we are teaching to her? She listens if she is intrested like playing games with us.

Have you spoken to your pediatrician about this? Not to cause alarm but sounds a little developmentally delayed. Your pediatrician can pinpoint these delays and get you child the help needed to catch up. They can also determine if there is something else wrong and why the delay is present. Just remember every child developes at their own rate and what is normal for one child may not be for another. Check with your pediatrician and keep working with her. Keeping her interested and engaged is key.
If the child is not at least making babbling sounds then there is a possibility that she may be autistic. Autism is less likely in Girls than boys and you must have her doctor diagnose her in order to really find out. It doesn't sound like autism to me, as she likes to play socially (just fyi). However autism isn't completely understood and the child may regress later in life.
But like I said, I don't believe it is autism with the information given but a doctor is the only one that can determine that. Mommynrs has a very strong point about development, all children blossom at their own pace.
But no matter what the issue, be it good or bad, your baby is precious and a person to love. I hope you luck and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Wow, she is ONLY 16 months old. That is just a little over a year. Give her time for her brain to develop. She's not developmentally delayed or autistic, she is one year and 4 months old.
Children at this age have an attention span of only a few minutes. Let her play, imitate and observe. This is how babies learn. She's too young for you to be sitting her down and expecting her to learn much at this stage of her life. She's a baby, let her be a baby, it doesn't last long.
There is no need for us to make stabs in the dark concerning another member's child. I agree with the medical professional here(as usual), as it is quite young to make any call, or make the OP nervous.Quote:

OP, this member lacks parental experience, and/or medical training.
We have a great pediatrician, wouldn't have it any other way. Please find a like doctor whom you can truly trust.
