I have a air conditioning unit by goodman which needs a new motor and capicitor. The
As spoken in the heading I need to know how to wire a new motor with four wires to a unit that had 3 wires. The capicitor that is old had 3 place to plug on the top and the new comcapicitor has only 2. the old motor had 3 wires brn, purple, blk. Brn and purple came off the cap brn from the frt center post and the purple from the back left post where also the yellow from the cotactor was plugged. The blk went to the opposite side of the contactor. I need to know how to place the four wires with a cap that has only 2 post.

Follow the instructions written on the side of motor, they all have them. Probably,2 wires one to each side of the contactor,, the other 2 brown and brown/white stripe,go to capicitor one to each side

Note also I have a y wire from the contactor to the old cap and one from the compressor itself to cap. Just connect them to each side of the cap as well? Thanks

,, leave the compressor and Y wire connected to the old capicitor,, leave it in place,, the new capicitor is much smaller and is for the new fan motor only,, tie it up/tape it and wire going to it from the new motor so the wires don`t /can`t get caught in the spinning fan

    If I`m understanding you correctly
