I went out with a man about eight months ago, and a few days after that he left to work overseas for 6 months. We wrote to each other while he was a away and when he came back we went out again. Today he told he couldn't see me again and that the reason was that he had decided to commit to a lady he had met overseas and that he didn't want to mess himself up - whatever that means. I was hoping someone could offer me some insight in to why he broke things off.. I'm a little bit confused.

Something similar happened to me a couple of months ago. Therefore, I could tell you that its either... He found soemthing about you that he doesn't like and does not want to deal with it and he just use an excuse to brake with you without telling you the truth, not to hurt you. Or, while he was seeing you, he had already being seeing this other girl and now that he went back, things with her just got better and he doesn't want to mess that up. But, I could tell you this... Do not let any man used you for their own desire. If he put you out of his life once, Do not take him back again, because he will push back out of his life again. Trust me once they did it once, and you accepted it... they will do it again to you. So, be strong, have respect for yourself and take him out of your heart forever. If he didn't appreciated you, he is not worth for you! I hope this helps!

He is not the one for you... It sounds like he is trying to be true to himself and his feelings for this other person.
Sometimes when your in the midst of pain from a break up it is difficult to see down the road. When you look back on this someday you will go, ah ha! I am so glad that things worked out the way they did. Let him go, and look towards your future. It is bright dear one!
