    Linux with a gui?
Hey guys need a bit of help here, I'm looking for an OS that will run on my old computer decently, I've been told that there is a Linux that isn't unlike windows if anybody knows any information about what its called and what I would need to set it up (if it exists)?

    Cheers for the help guys

Here you go: Ubuntu Home Page | Ubuntu

Possibly the easiest flavour of linux for a newbie.

Cheers Ben... and it's free? Nice :D

That will keep him out of my hair if he gets his computer running decently :p

How hard is it to install? Do you just wipe your computer (reformat) and then put that on?

    KISS

To get a funky feel for it, it will actually boot and run from a CD.

I would also recommend Linux Mint: Main Page - Linux Mint

You can install it (ubuntu) in a folder on your Win partition. It will just install a bootloader which points to the folder. This way you get a fully working OS.

Linux Mint is probably the best for a first time user, it ships with support for most the common audio and video files installed. If you use Ubuntu Ubuntu Tweek is the easiest way for you to Get support for these file formats
