As the mother I was baptized Catholic but consider myself Christian. My husband is from India but doesn't associate w/ any religions of his culture, which would be hindu or sikh. The Godparents we would like are Christian & Catholic, how does that work?

    Hi, lizgiran!

The traditions and manner in which God Parents become so will vary from denomination to denomination. Is there a particular denomination that has a congregation where you want this sort of commitment for the God parents, you and your husband to be made?

Also, is your husband interested in becoming a Christian? And, why do you put a distinction between Catholicism and Christianity, please?

I've always understood that Catholics were Christians the same as any other Christian denomination might be.

    Thanks!

I am a Godparent to three children, and do not practise any form of organized religion, although I am very spiritual.

One of the children's baptism took place in a Catholic Church, and the other two were in an Evangelical Church. None of those officiating at the ceremonies took any notice that I was not of any faith.

Your best bet is to speak to someone in the church where the baptism is going to take place.

I doubt you'll have any problems with who you choose as Godparents.
