Sorry. I was texting a friend, flirting, and he came up with this line and told me to read between the lines. I thought maybe he was saying he doesn't close the door on relationships... always keeps them hanging. I thought I'd search the web for others' thoughts on the phrase.

He probably just said something that only made sense to make him sound deep and intelligent. I'd say to him "if you have something you want to tell me then sy it, but i don't like playing these guessing games and I refuse to play them now. You can tell me or i just won't worry about it, your call." the only person that can REALLY know what they think it means is him. I'm guessing you're between the ages of 14 and 18?

Yeah he's just trying to be mysterious. Nip it in the bud. ;)

I think what it means is that he's good at locking up and shutting down his feelings, but sometimes he leaves the door open.

That could be because he's expecting a pizza delivery.
