So I am 15 yrs old from ny and was caught shoplifting at a local kmart. They took me to the back room and found out that I stole $30.00 worth of merchandise. They called the police and the cop gave me an appearance ticket, took down my information and let me go home with my mom after saying there should be a letter in the mail in about a week stating my family court date. They didn't even take my finger prints, and this is my first time ever getting in trouble with the law. How long will it take for me to have my court date, and will I get community service.
