    Compressor Mismatch
At my home I have a 4 ton Bryant AC system. Compressor in unit seems to be seized. I have replaced the capcitor and added a hard start kit. (500%) These did not get compressor going. I have a brand new compressor that I can install but it is of the 5 ton variety. My question is will this work with my 4 ton coil? Can something be modded to make it work? I am not concerned with optimum performance right now, only getting it up and running until I can fix it correctly. Located in FL and it's HOT!

    Orig. compressor is: ZR 49K3PFV-230

    Replacement: ZR61K3PFV-130

Both are Copeland scroll and appear identical in dimension.

System does not have TXV as far as I know

    Thanks in advance.

I would say that this is not a good idea.
