Water spraying behind Faucet knob
Hello my name is Maria and I have a problem, I have a leak coming from my bathtub into my basement, it started small and for months I would notice small amounts of water here and there, until a couple of days ago its has got really bad, I have 2 buckets that fill up overnight that I have to keep dumping, I have access to the pipes and shut off valves which are located behind a small door in my bedroom closet the water appears to be coming from either the shower head or the faucet knob which there is only one huge diamond shape knob for the cold and the hot water and I notice last night if I put my ear close to he knob I can hear a hissing sound, kind of like a mini water sprinkler system. What I need to know is can I fix this myself, could it be just the matter of changing a washer. I had to put a new washers and other parts on the toilet so I'm thinking with all the wear and tear my 5 kids and a husband put on our only bathroom maybe we wore out something that was going to have to be replace anyway or should I just call a plumber? Moving into a new house you'll find out a lot of things need to be replace the hard way. Any advise I would consider helpful thanks.

I think it would be helpful to know my single knob faucet is a Moen.
