    Child abandonment laws in nc
My daughter and her baby's father have "shared custody" court ordered, every other week with their daughter which is 4 years old now. Sometimes when we travel to take her to her fathers (which he is never there to drop her off or pick her up , his mother is) He has only been there once in 4 years they are not there. We then just bring her back with us. We travel at least 200 miles round trip to take her. Isn't there a abandonment law in the State of North Carolina where if the other parent does not call or have contact with the child for a "Period of time" we can do something about this? Another thing, we live in Virgina not North Carolina.

Time to use this documented missing to ask for the court order to be modified and to change his visits and the order for him to pick up child.

This should ( but up to the judge) should be grounds to have the current court order modified.
