Pain, edema & bleeding of gum following tooth prep for crown
I had to have a root canal done in December 2009. It was a hard job for the Dr. and I had some soreness for a few days. On March 16 I had the temp. filling taken out and the premanent filling put in with no problem. On April 13, 2010 I had the tooth preped for the permanent cap. A temp cap put on. I have had swelling in the gum around the tooth, pain, in gujm, bleeding around the tooth after brushing and flossing. The tooth is sensitive to tapping on it. I can not get in touch with my Dr.. What should I do?

You could try taking some Ibuprofen and rinse with some tea tree oil and warm water (5 drops of tea tree oil in 1/2 c warm water). Do that as often as you can until you get in to see the DDS.
