Ok Folks..!

This might sound you pretty weird but not weird if you are thorough with your Bible. I have a friend about whom I have concluded that she is under influences of dark forces. I am not sure should I call it oppressed with or possessed with the demonic spirits.

I am looking for some help to identify this problem in her more clearly. How should I tell her that what she is going through is due demonic influence on her? At times, I told her to come to Lord Jesus and HE would heal her, but she can listen to me talking on any topic for hours, but if I wish to talk about Jesus or the Bible to her, she would shut me up in a moment. I am praying to Lord Jesus for her release from the devil. When would HE do that only HE knows. So please guide me.

I don't see how the Bible itself has anything to do with this.

For Christians, yes, a good relationship with Christ is helpful, but nowhere in the Bible or historic Christianity are we taught that Christians will be without difficulty.

And finally, what makes you think that she is under the influence of "dark forces"? What are "dark forces"? Don't put more into this than is there.

Tell us what, exactly, your friend is saying or doing and maybe we can help further.

The Bible makes no difference between being "possessed" and "oppressed." That distinction is a human invention. The biblical term means "demonized." So it doesn't matter which you think it is.

There are believers with a spiritual gift of being able to tell if something demonic is going on. If you can find someone with it they can tell you what's going on. The trick there is to beware of wannabes. Someone with an established track record in a good church is going to be your best bet.

As Rick said, it would help to know why you think she's demonized.

Thanks for the input. Why I said to be thorough with the Bible because many people do not believe that there are evil spirits. Where as Lucifer has his legion who are decieving people from walking on the right path. Medical science gives these problems a medical name. I do not reject medical science. If this was not there, Jesus would not had healed people from spirits. Though in the past people were accused of being witches and wizards and having evil spirits in them which is not happening in the present world. Science has come a longway in explaining the health problems. But I am not denying the fact also that there are few things which are beyond comprehension of science.

I am not 100% positive though myself about her but there are few things I found in her which I checked with few websites and then came to this conclusion. That's why I am looking for some help to be very positive myself first before I tell her this. All the time thinking about suicide, low energies, not eating properly, very disturbed sleep, denying of Jesus, dreaming of dead bodies regularly are few of the things I can share with you about her. She stopped taking anti-depressants about year ago. Even with those tablets, she had the same problems which she took for about 8 years. Few things which I told you about her do get connected. Eating less food would cause low energies and stress would cause sleep depravation. There is no reason to eat very little food or not eating at all. Denying Jesus can be covered under that she does not like Jesus.

I know it is very difficult for a layman like me to have an empirical data on her for being under influence. Secondly it is much more difficult to disclose to her the possibility of such thing. That's why I am in a fix. If she had been receptive to Lord Jesus, it would had been much easier to talk to her, but that's what the problem is.

I can only share my own experience. I've encountered demonic presences twice, and I don't care to ever again because both times scared the bejabbers out of me.

As for mental illness, it's definitely real. I'm severely ADHD myself, and I take medication for it that helps me control it. My middle daughter is bipolar. We've known there was something wrong since she was 4; she just turned 25. She has been through scads of diagnoses, from Aspberger's to poor parenting. During an extended hospitalization in her 5th grade year, they settled on bipolar and got her on some medications that have enabled her to develop and move toward something resembling a life.

Along the way, demonization did occur to us. At that time we knew a person - our pastor's wife, as so happens - who was very discerning about spirits and such. We put her and my daughter together for extended periods and they hit it off wonderfully. The pastor's wife verified that there was nothing demonic going on with our daughter. Apparently, it's all a matter of chemistry and wiring.

If your friend was on antidepressants and things didn't change much, the best thing to do is try some different ones. Everybody's brain is different, and a drug that works for one might or might not work for another. I've been through a dozen different medications for ADD myself, and right at the moment Prozac appears to do the job best. I was on Zoloft for 10 years, but I suffered one of its most common side-effects: I gained nearly 100 pounds. Now I'm in one of the fights of my life to get rid of some of that before it starts affecting my heart.

Anyway, the upshot to all that rambling is this: a lot of folks, myself included, could have believed that my daughter's problem was demonic. But we found someone we trusted who had the gift and established that it wasn't. While we were doing that, we continued to explore medical explanations and treatments. Your friend shouldn't give up just because one medication didn't do the trick. It does sound as though she's chronically depressed; everything you described fits the bill. And it's not what people like to hear, especially I-want-it-now Americans, but it's not going to go away quickly just because you take pills. It takes YEARS sometimes, and the only thing you can do is keep at it, keep working with the medications and with therapists, and look ahead as much as possible.

Not much comfort, I know. But if it's a choice between giving you comfort and giving you the truth, I can't lie to you. I suggest you encourage your friend to keep seeking medical help, maybe back off on the Christian stuff for a while because in this frame of mind, she's not likely to be receptive too much of anything.

From my experience people who suffer from depression are not interested in anything you have to say to them on any topic. This is why it is important to keep encouraging them to seek medical help.

Thanks for the info folks. I understand that the depression would not let you listen to anybody else. But living a fake life under the cover of medicine for the whole life is not justice to the person itself. She is the same what she was when she was taking the tablets.

I would suggest her to see doctor again and see if he thinks of changing the medicine.

Medication is not a cure when it comes to depression. In the majority of cases it is a treatment of the symptoms. Nonetheless, medical help must be the first priority.

Though I am thinking to suggest her to see doctor, but in the core of my heart I have a thought that another medication might not be totally recover her. I have seen and met people who had been healed from their ailments once they put their faith on Lord Jesus. Whereas she does not want to listen the name of Lord Jesus. I would continue praying for her release.

But isn't our life here on earth fake no matter how you look at it? We are born imperfect, live our lives as imperfect people, and die imperfect. None of us is perfect; all of us have something physical or mental or spiritual that's wrong. Many mental illnesses are caused by brain chemistry gone awry. God has been merciful in giving humans the intelligence to advance medical science to find helps and even cures for physical and mental imperfections. If I have to take pills my entire life to correct or make less severe one of those mental or physical imperfections, so be it. I live my "fake life" to the glory of God.

Yes. Without the meds I wouldn't be able to get much of anything done, and without medication my daughter would probably spend the rest of her life in an institution.

The same for me as a diabetic with a bad back and bad legs. Without my meds I would have been dead several years ago but with them I keep on going, slowly and painfully but going.

Dear Friends, thank you very much for your suggestions and your support. I would really be grateful if you could remember her in prayers that whichever way Lord God wants, whether medicines or miracle, she should be healed and be in fold of Lord Jesus. I believe firmly in prayers. I also know that it is Lord God who gives understanding to humans to discover medicines and make life easier for man. The story in the Bible about the master who gave 10 coins, 5 coins and 2 coins to his servants and went away, is about the skills and gifts God gives to humans. God bless you all.
