Paycheck Owed to me- How do I take this to court?
Hello and thank you for reading and giving any advice.
I took a temporary job from a woman who does contracts with construction companies to clean up after them. The 2 paychecks I got from her were both late and one bounced. She still owes me a 3rd paycheck of over $2,000 for over a month of work with lots of overtime. It has been over 4 months now, and I have tried to be patient since she was my moms supposed-friend and she claimed to be having problems getting paid by the companies plus other personal problems. Now I am overseas and unable to contact her. My mom has talked to her and she said she had the money but now she is not answering her phone or returning phone calls. I called and left her a message notifying her that she needs to get in contact with my mom and arrange a time for her to collect the $$ or I will be taking this to court.
My questions are; What procedures are required to go to court for this? Do I have to have proof of my hours? Is it OK for me to go to the companies she contracted with and request the hours she turned into them? Will I have to be present in court or will my mothers general power of attorney be OK?
Thank You again for any advice available
