I am again this year having a big problem with wild rabbits. They are destroying my flower gardens and my landscaping. There are probably 20 or 30 of them that feed (destroy) mine and my neighbors property. They randomly munch everything, have destroyed about half of my tulips, hostas, even the bark from my hedges and young trees.

Last year and this year I have talked with several home and gardens people and they recommend sprays, etc. I have gone on line and have seen kill traps and cages, I really don't want to use these and just want to get rid of them (peacefully). If I buy the metal cages and take them 5 miles away as recommended I would be going every day...

And yesterday I found a nest of young... last year I had three...

As far as natural predictors... well, I see hawks flying around but they don't hunt or even land in my neighbor as there are too kids and people all around. Occasionally I see a coyote (sp) but very rarely. These rabbits are out of control and really p*ss*ng me off. They just randomly destroy flowers, they bite the stems and don't even eat it, they just let them lye there.

I have used all the spraysand urunes (fox, etc) again this year... absolutely no affect...

Any suggestions that will work would really be appreciated... please.

Where I live was a meadow for years up to about five years ago so they just haven't left and do not fear humans. And all the dogs are on a leash.

They are almost tame and besides destroying everything the are a hugh nuisance... hugh!

These rabbits are all fat, very well fed. :mad:

I need a solution quickly, it's driving me mad..

Well, in the old farm house where I used to live (that's since been torn down), I used to have great multitudes of rabbits! They would even attack my rose bushes!

The rose bushes were right along a couple sides of the house.

Someone at a garden/pet supply store recommended that I use a particular granulated substance. When I used it though, it was so smelly and since the rose bushes were right next to the house, the smell would come into the house through the open windows and make me ill!

Although, if I remember correctly, it seems that it was somewhat of a deterrent to the rabbits.

We have tried all types of pepper granulations that didn't work either and for some reason drew other insects that became a problem also... stopped using that because it didn't keep the rabbits away either.

I've always heard that marigolds around the perimeter of your flowerbeds will deter rabbits and deer. Apparently the taste is extremely bitter. Lots of farm wives swear by this.

I'd guess at least two rows thick, just so the bunnies can destroy the first layer.

The same farm folk say to plant mums in between for bugs and I know that mums make a very powerful insecticide (pyrethrum) so I tend to go with the rest on faith.

Sounds good and Mums are very pretty also.
