What Exactly Does a Heart Attack Really Feel Like?
    Hi, All!

Okay, I'm a pretty stressed-out person. I get panic attacks with chest pain. My heart has been checked out numerous times over the past year or so as being fine. So, worrying that it's a heart attack has considerably lowered my stress level, since I'm not as worried about it really being a heart attack.

However, I'm curious as to what a real heart attack might feel like if a person was having one? Anyone ever had a real one?

Are there different levels to them? I've known some older people who've had heart attacks and not known that they were having one.

    Thanks!

My husband felt like he had indigestion, pains in his lower chest/upper abdomen.

Yes. He had bypass surgery the next day.

So, was the pain that he had with the heart attack really painful?

Like I said, he thought it was indigestion, but when it didn't let up, he drove himself to the ER (the doctor's office was closed).

So, the pain of having a heart attack can be a simple pain, so it seems.

The feeling of indigestion went on too long and wasn't relieved by antacids, so he went to the ER just to get things checked out. So if indigestion is a "simple pain," then, yes, a heart attack can be a "simple pain."
