Sinus infection that spreads to the Brain, possibly genetic
    Hi,
I have a close friend who passed away 5 years ago at the age of 21 due to a sinus infection that spread to his brain. His sister now 21 has been afflicted with the same condition and now requires brain surgery. Has anyone ever heard of any genetic brain disorder that starts as a sinus infection and eventually deteriorates the brain to the point of death? The doctors told us when he passed away that is was extremely extremely rare to pass away due to a sinus infection that has spread, so this seems like it may not be a coincidence?

This condition isn't all that extremely rare. Sinusitis, left untreated can infect the frontal lobe causing eye infections, left untreated causing blindness.

I don't know if is it genetic or not, but seizures can develop from sinusitis a serious sinus infection.
