If you manage to get a job during the Xmas season, you may be able to file and qualify for the Earned Income Credit.

    Good luck!

I think you need to file, even with no income, but I'm just wondering what you think filing will do for you. Unless you had substantial interest or investment income during 2006, you should have no tax liability. Since you had not earned income, you had no witholding. So basically, you have a wash.

    Scott:

The general rule is that if the total income is less than the combined total of the personal exemption ($3,300) and standard deduction ($5,150), there is NO requirement to file a tax return except to claim whatever taxes were withheld from the paycheck, which does not apply in this case.
