Taking Estradiol vaginally during 1st trimester of pregnancy
I am 6 weeks pregnant and I went for my first prenatal appointment where my doctor confirmed the pregnancy with a vaginal ultrasound and recommended to use Supp Estradiol 1 mg suppository to be used vaginally twice a day up to 12 weeks of pregnancy for better uterine lining and for lowering the chances of miscarriage. I researched over internet and found that estradiol is contraindicated and should NOT be used during pregnancy as it can lead to fetal abnormalities and birth defects. I have seen at least 10 websites which have the same information and none of the websites recommends it during pregnancy. So I am confused and have not yet started taking it and am planning to take a second opinion. Any advise in the matter would be highly appreciated.

You should NOT be taking this during pregnancy. You need to ask your doctor why he prescribed this since it is linked with certain birth defects.

I might suggest finding another doctor.
