Find an equation for the parabola with focus at(-3,-8) and vertex at (-3,-4).
I need to know how I find an equation for this problem. How do these numbers plug into (x-h)^2=4p(y-k)?

p is the (absolute value) distance from the focus to the vertex. You can find that from the given coordinates.
    (h,k) are the vertex coordinates.

    Plug them in.
