    Albums everyone had
Think back to your junior high and high school days, I would like to hear what was the album that everyone seemed to have in their youth. The film Wayne' s World made a joke about every 70s kid having "Frampton Comes Alive". When I was in junior high, the album everyone had was Def Leppard's "Hysteria" from 1987. It was the first album I bought and still my favorite. Would like to hear about other people's albums.

In the 90's early 2000's, my high school was divided into 3 sections: 1. Hippies they would be in the smoking section in their K cars or in the foot ball field rocking out to Nirvanna, Grateful Dead, Janis, Led Zepplin, The Doors, etc, than there was the 2. The Punks, Who were almost always found either in the bus shacks or in the parking lot listening to NOFX, Rancid, OPIVY, Stiff Little Finger, Danzig, Misfits, etc... and they had a sub group "the Metals", who listened to the old 80's rock right up to Slayer, Mega Death, Carcass. Etc, They usually hung out on the hill behind the bus shacks.
Then there were the 3. The Preps, Who sat at the picnik tables in the front of the school. They listened to Big Shiney Tunes, Back Street boys, Britany Spears, Boys to Men, (gag me).

That's all I can think of, but I just pulled my old High School tapes and C.D's out of the shoe box in my closet :p

Yeeeeeah, this was me. I was a metalhead without the long hair for all of my pre-teen and most of my teenage years. Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Fear Factory, Type O Negative--Peter Steele died last week damnit--and Pantera were all I listened to. Then I got into punk and hardcore (Slapshot) and now it's country and rockabilly.

Anyway, the first album I bought, (I think) was Paranoid by Black Sabbath, I was 12, so 1997.

My music tastes in high school weren't that diverse. I think I had all of 5 cd's, at least 2 of which were soundtracks. My radio got exactly 2 stations, soft rock and country.

As soon as I got my computer my sophomore year of college, I started finding new music. Not I have a little of just about everything.

All the rock legends like led zepellin, queen, matalica, disturbed, acdc, and aerosmith. The country stars like dolly parton, reba macintye, garth brooks, and alan jackson. Femenist music like ani defranco, the indigo girls, and melissa etheridge. Gothic rock like evanescence, lacuna coil, leaves' eyes, and nightwish. Metal like cradle of filth, black sabbath, dream evil, and atreyu. Folk music like missy higgins, sue merchant, and erin mckeown. Not to mention too many others to list.

Then there's the languages. English. Gaelic. German. Japanese. Spanish. French. And even a couple in scandanavian.

The first album I ever owned, which was really just a cassette tape, was now that's what I can music (can't remember which number, but I think it was 7 or 9). I wanted it for one song. I played that thing nonstop for more than a year. The tape broke more than once, so I superglued the ends together as carefully as possible. The only reason I stopped listening to is was because my brother's tape player stretched it until it broke.

The first album from just one artist that I ever owned was vitamin c. by the time I got it, no one was listening to her anymore, but that didn't stop me from putting the thing on endless repeat.

I listened to the few cd's I owned so many times that I knew all the songs and still can't hear the end of some of them without knowing instantly which song came next.

I love Alice and Elton John. A buddy and I would always listen to "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" before we'd go to a Bruins game. I could never get into Skynyrd though, and I tried really hard, just never dug 'em.

And thanks! This avatar is Slapshot's logo, well, one of several.
