You can't permanently change natural hair texture because it is genetic. You could invest in a hair straightener that may make your hair more silky or perhaps have a professional hair stylist straighten it for you.

You can also try using some natural oils or creams in your hair to make it softer. Some oils that you can use in your hair are olive oil, almond oil, and baby oil.

I'm not sure how coarse you mean, but my hair is rather coarse. I found that herbal essence shampoo and conditioner goes a long way toward softening my hair. I use the straight hair formula (only because it helps control my frizz), but the curly hair formula makes my hair even softer.

I've been using it for about 8-9 months now, and there's a very noticeable difference in the texture of my hair. It made an immediate difference the first time I used it, but it's been getting slightly softer over time since then.
