Can I use a regular recessed housing with a wet rated trim

So I thought I was ordering a recessed shower light (housing) with a wet / shower rated lens and steel trim ring. What I received was just the lens and trim ring (no housing) I have leftover recessed housings (IC rated) that we used in the rest of the house. Can I use one of those housings with my shower/wet rated lens and trim? Both the can and the trim are 6 in.
