Hi, I got a tattoo done on the 6th of April and am wondering when I can start doing competitive swimming again. My artist said that I can go swimming and training in 2 weeks. But I'm just worried about the chlorine water so want to be on the safe side. I have read somewhere that it's safer to wait 6 weeks before swimming again as the skin is still sensitive? My tattoo has pretty much healed in the sense that it has pealed but still feels slightly bumby. I am planning to go back to the gym next month but am a little worried the excess moving of my arms when doing competitive swimming might stretch or break the tattoo? My tattoo is just on my right shoulder blade.

I would listen to your tattooist.

I had my tattoo done about 3 years ago and I can still feel raised skin on the black outline.
Once it has peeled just wait another week maybe (still use your antiseptic creams) and then you should be fine.

White spots are common on tattoos so don't panic if this happens, they are easy to touch up by your tattooist (I had several rejection spots that needed fixing)
