In a 160 ft. deep well with a submersible pump, pressure has gone from 60 to 45 psi
Water pressure began to degrade about 2 week ago the pump continued to run with pressure switch at 60PSI, reduced pressure switch to 55 ans it was OK, after 1 week pump could not achieve 55PSI. I dropped the pressure to 50PSI. It continues to degrade. Does this sound like a bad pump?

Suggest trying simple and least expensive things first.

Remove pressure switch and insure that port is clear and clean. Could be a restriction causing inaccurate readings.

This could also be the impeller going bad. Any dark particles in the water? Remove a aerator and check then screen. Good luck, Tom

It does sound like a bad pump. Could be your gauge is not reading right. Make sure your pressure gauge is good. It such read about the same pressure you get with a tire gauge at the top of the pressure tank. But, that's a stretch. Even if you had restrictions in pipes, that would more affect volume than pressure. I would do as HK suggested, which is to check the little pipe leading to the switch. As he pointed out, it's a cheap fix, but don't pin too many hopes on it.
