Better late than never, it only took about 40 years. Ringo Starr said he doesn't care. They took over 300 years to forgive Galileo, so I guess this is fast for them. Maybe in another 30 years they'll forgive the Rolling Stones. Hopefully they will never forgive rap!

I guess, in the grand timeline of the catholic church, 40 years is nothing. They DID just admit the earth is round in the 60's. I guess it took seeing it from space to hammer the point home.

Were any of the beatles even catholic? If not, then what right does the catholic church have to pass judgment on them one way or the other. Even if one of them were catholic, they would only have the right to judge that member, within the confines of their religious beliefs and system.
No church, or organization, has the right to pass judgment on non-members. It's simply not realistic, or fair, to expect someone to live by rules and beliefs they don't believe in.
The church made those comments about the Beatles in the 60s reacting to comments John Lennon had made about the Beatles being more popular than God.
They now are attempting a gesture of rapprochement. Take it or leave it.
You make those sorts of comments you get an answer, where may I ask is Lennon now? God remains on top of the popularity pole and Lennon is nowhere to be seenQuote:

It's not up to the Catholic Church, Pat Robertson or any one else to say where John Lennon is. He's dead... but he is in the hands of a just God.
Whether he was saved or had SALVATION is not up to any of us to decide. It's not the Baptist, The Mormon, The Lutheran, The Pope or the Catholic Church etc. who can forgive or judge anyone. They need to clean out their own backyard before cleaning some else's

I happen to believe that Lennon did more good than bad for this world and is justly rewarded.
He certainly has enriched my life .
