Maytag MD33 Gas Clothes Dryer - when I pull the control dial to start dryer, the light flashes, but dryer won't turn on. Is there a fuse out?

First, you might want to re-post with the full model number, as what you posted isn't. You can find it either inside the door opening or on the top edge of the control panel. What "light" flashes? Does this light stay on as long as you hold the knob out and then shut off when you let go, or something else? This timer was well known to have a bad contact that gave power to the motor, so the timer could very likely be the culprit.
