    John deere 318 fuel pump
I have a JD 318 that is not getting gas to the filter. I replaced the fuel filter and it starter and ran fine for about an hour. Then, the problem resumed. The engine shut off and no gas appears to be getting from the fuel pump to the filter. It appears that no fuel is getting to the pump. This does not appear to be an issue with carb or fuel pump- or is it? Is there likely a problem with trash in line, tank or something else? Thanks. Gary.

    Hi,
I would think it a fuel line issue. Your engine is in the front and your tank in the rear. My guess is pinched or porous fuel line. Older machines often have some unusual issues.

Check your fuel tank and see if you have about a 1/2 tank.the way the tank sits on a 318 if you have more than a 1/2 tank it will run okay. If your fuel pump is bad but when it gets to a 1/2 tank the fuel level is lower than the carb and it will die.
