Wiring for gas pack 4wires to honeywell thermostat
I have a gas pack with air conditioner. I bought a honeywell thermostat for a heat
Pump. It is non-programable. I have 4 wires coming out of the wall. A red, blue,
Green and white. I have the blue to y. The green to G. The red to R.I had the white
To O. The air seemed to work OK. The heat would come on but not cut off. Help?

Red to r, white to w, green to g, and blue to y. If your stat doesn't have a w, I suggest getting a honeywell for a conventional heat system, not a heatpump. What were the wires hooked to on the old thermostat?

The wires were connected as you have them above. The new stat
    Does not have a w.

I have had really good luck with the honeywell pro 5000. It would be a good stat for you to look into. However, there are many, many Honeywell stats on the market, so you just need to find one that is compatible with a conventional system, which is what you have. You definitely need a stat with r,w,y,g. The only problem with the pro 5000, is that it needs a fifth wire to power stat. If you don't have the fifth wire, you will be running the stat off the batteries, and when the batteries in the stat die, the furnace and a/c will not work. But there is a low battery light on the stat, so it usually works just fine. I would suggest changing the batteries in this stat once a year, just to be safe.
