Only have a brief description:
The book is about a young(17) year old american girl. We first see her when she is running away through the woods from her physically, sexually, emotionally etc abusive father. We find out throughout the story that her family have lead their lives in extreme povert, haven't gone to school etc. she accepts a lift form some guys to get away from dad and they end up trying to rape her, and basically just bheig s.
She escapes these guys and as she is walking along the road she is picked up by a cop. He takes pity on her and takes her back to his house, to his wife and thyey look after her.
The wife is seriously effed up due to the loss of their daughter a few years ago, drinks lots that sort of thing. Kills herself in a drink driving accident. Pretty much straight after the funeral the girl and the cop get it on, fall in love etc.
In comes the cops ex-lover, total psycho woman who finds out that cop is sleeping with girls. She gets a little crazy when he won't see her and decides the only tting to do is kill the girl.
Meanwhile, the girl discovers she is pregnant, ajnd also that the ex-lover wants to kill her. She starts freaking out but it is too late because the psych ex tries to kill her but ends up getting killed herself.
Now the girl is in big trouble, because she killed someone. She panics and decides to run away again. She heads to the coast where she meets a woman who lives in a trailer, has a couple of kids and suppiorts them by being a stripper. At this point in the stiory the giurl decides to become a stripper before she get too big too make some money.
That's as far as I got into the book. This is clearly only a brief description, but I hope it prompts someone's memory.
