    Hands are always dry
Hey. So here's the deal, I work at a coffee shop, and I am ALWAYS washing my hands or doing dishes or something. This has taken it's toll on my skin. I try to apply lotion liberally but it never seems to get the chance to soak in because I have to wash my hands so often while I'm at work. I apply after and at night. I used the udder cream stuff, creamy ones with paraffin, aloe, and shea but they're still dry on the surface. What can I do to keep them from feeling like paper?

Have you tried moisturizing gloves? I don't think its really the gloves themselves that moisturize. I think its just that they're made of cotton and supposed to keep the lotion on your hands. But anyway, you can find them cheap places like cvs or riteaid. Or there's this other stuff I just started using from mary kay, its called satin hands. You use the whole set every few nights. And then you use the lotion whenever you want/need. And its got silicone in it so that's supposed to help it stay on your hands even when you have to wash them a lot. Its like my new favorite thing in the world! My hands had been cracking and hurting they were so dry before (I lost my gloves and didn't bother buying new ones because I hated wearing them anyways).

Yeah when I was younger my hands would get so dry they would crack and bleed on the backs. The teachers always had a bottle of lotion on my desk because they were so bad. My knuckles get that sometimes still, although now it's the palms of my hands not the backs that feel dry and strange.

Wow. Your hands sound worse than mine. Mine only start cracking occasionally, usually they're just all rough and icky. Have you tried cetaphil? My mom used to use that on her hands when hers would get really bad. I never really liked it, so I never used it long enough to see if it actually worked. But its supposed to be really good for dry skin. Its like a moisturizing soap that doesn't foam. I think they might have a lotion too

My mom used to get it from kaiser. I think they sell it all over now. Drug stores like cvs, riteaid.

I might have to try it. The rest of me is fine but my hands just get so icky feeling. If I went two weeks, maybe a week, without applying lotion they'd be distroyed.
