    Good tree for front yard.
My front yard is 80'x40' there used to be a huge spruce tree but I cut it down. Looking for a deciduous tree with a root system that's not invasive. Would like some but not too tall, 50' max. I live in the northeast and have sandy soil. Looking at an eastern redbud. Any other suggestions?

Either White European Birch or River Birch. I have both in my yard and they are very graceful and colorful. The birchs do very well in well drained soil. You can water them a lot and they will grow like crazy. Try to plant a clump of 3 or more about 3' from each other and you will end up with a very lovely arrangement. I have a 3 clump by my bedroom window I planted 8 summers ago and they are well above the rooftop now and pushing around 30' or so. I did water them a lot in the summer months when they were "little" and they have rewarded me with their growth. I have about 20 white and river birch trees planted all around my home. They do quite well in storms as the branches are not "stiff" and brittle and do not easily break like other trees. In the fall they turn a lovely golden color. The root system is not invasive.

    I vote for birch trees.

I like a non fruit bearing cherry tree with great blooms in the spring.

I presently have two river birch, a dogwood, two brilliance, a silver pine, a Johnny Walker walking stick, a short flat head pine, a white birch and one that I have forgotten the name of... All are very beautiful and terrific bloomers, I just want the cherry for a space that I have in my front.
