How do you soffit where a 2nd floor overhangs the 1st floor? How do you insulate this soffit? I have a bi-level where the 2nd floor overhangs the 1st by 2 feet both front and back. I know that roof eave soffits don't get insulated for ventilation but should the 1st to 2nd floor overhang soffit get insulated and vapor barriered?

Minimum R-value for your region is R-19 but should be more if you can fit it.

The insulation must have a vapor retarder placed up against the floor above.

Soffit should be unvented.
