Sears lawn mower will not start
Hi, I have a Sears ride on lawn mower that will not start. Not even a click when I turn on the ignition. Here's what I have done:
Replaced the solenoid and starter switch, replace oil and filter, checked the fuse, seat switch and the brake switch. When I short the two red wires on the solenoid, the motor starts and then shuts off when I turn off the ignition switch. What else can I look at? Thanks in advance.

I think he is asking if there are the same amount of posts on the new solenoid. They make three and four post solenoids.

It sounds like a safety switch issue. You didn't mention that you checked the deck height switch.

The old solenoid had three switches, where as the new one had four. the instructions that came with the new one were pretty clear.

I was able to located two safety switches, the one under the seat and one when the break is pressed. I am not able to located the third safety switch. Was not aware that there is a deck height switch.

Can you please give us the model number for the mower?

We can then look at the exact model you are talking about and verify what switches there are.
