I am 37 and still have a baby tooth (a canine) and in the last few years, the adult tooth finally came down partway behind it. The baby tooth has gotten progressively loose, although still hanging in there. The root of the tooth is exposed, and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it comes out. My biggest concern is that the adult tooth is too far back, it seems, to correct it with braces. I'm wondering what my options are. Is it possible to do a bridge in front of the adult tooth for aesthetic reasons?

Have you discussed this with your dentist? Or seen an orthodontist? You said it seems too far back for braces, but do you actually know it is or are you just guessing?

I am just guessing. I do not have a dentist nor have I been to one in a long time. The new tooth just feels as if it is way too far back on the roof of my mouth to correct it with braces, but of course I haven't had this confirmed yet by a professional. If it turns out that I'm right, I was hoping I might have another option than leaving a gap. (!)

Well, if you want to fix it, you'll eventually have to see a professional. What's stopping you from going now?

I intend to. I just thought I'd seek some qualified dental advice online prior, so I'd know what to expect.

If the adult tooth has come in, it is best to have the baby tooth removed. Braces will probably be needed if you want the adult tooth to be moved in to proper position.
