    Murray deck adjustment
The deck on my murray riding mower will not raise to the proper height for mowing. The deck is adjusted properly but the front still rides on the ground and just scalps the grass making it impossible to mow. Nothing is broken or disconnected so I'm perplexed and getting frustrated. It's a mid 90's model. Thanks, JEFF

Hey Jeff you didn't say what size deck you had,if there are no adjusting nuts holding the front deck arm you might look and see if there's different holes to put the arms in.if not then you might have to give it a John Deere adjustment and bend it so it raises.

Hello, It's a 38" deck. It started doing this spontaneously and I can't figure out why. Very frustrating. Thanks

    Hi,
I would bet that the front was hung on something while moving in a forward direction and bent the part that the front link attaches to. The cure would be to take the front link loose, procure a large pipe wrench, clamp it securely from the front of the machine and to bend the bracket forward by lifting the wrench upwards.
    Peace,

First loosen both side on the adusting knobs in the back. The Murray I have I use 3 and 1/2 inch blocks or 4 inch and put them on the four corners then tighten the adusting knobs. The front has to be level with the back for it to move the deck back and keep it level. I used the method in the book to drop it to the ground and it never worked for me.
