    Legal dating ages
I want to know if its is legal or illegal for two people to date with an age span of 8-9 years? I'm pretty sure it's ILLEGAL but I just want some reassurance.

    It's never illegal to date.

It's illegal for anyone under 18 to have ANY type of sexual activity [yes that includes kissing] with anyone 18+.

Ages do vary in different states or provinces.

I'd also like to point out if your 17 and you want to date a 10 year old something is very very very wrong with you!!

This question has been asked and answered many times. You would also find answers to legal questions in the law forums.

As Mud said, there are no laws that I know of that cover dating and age gaps. The only laws that exist cover sexual activity between an adult and a minor.

There is also an issue that a minor is still under the control of parents. If someone defies a parent's objections to a relationship, there could be legal issues involved over that. If both parties are adults then what they do is between them.

I wonder where you got the idea that dating was illegal?

The younger persons age makes the difference, if the yonger person is 30 there can be a 20 year age difference

If the younger person is 13 or 15 or 16 it makes a big difference

What ages are you talking about? 10 and 18? 15 and 23? 20 and 28? It makes a HUGE difference which side of 18 both people fall on.
