I had a question about the following how-to guide:

    http://www.hammerzone.com/archives/plumbing/faucet/washer/replace.htm

Fast forward to the step beginning with "I removed the next hex fitting."

Neither the hot or cold hex fitting closest to the wall will budge for me. I

Checked with a flashlight around the fitting and see a lot of plaster very

Close around the cylinder that the handle plugs into. I am guessing a lot of

The resistance I am getting from loosening the fitting is because the 4" part

I'm trying to remove is encased in a hard plaster.

I checked the access panel from the adjacent room behind the shower and it has

a wall of chicken wire and hard plaster running from the floor of the access

panel going up at least 24" inches, perhaps all the way up to the shower.

I am wondering if to replace the washer in the back end of the hex fitting, I

Suppose I would have to chip out the plaster, get the fitting out, then figure

Out if I want to re-plaster around the tub fittings.

Second, is it normal for tubs to be hard-plastered around the supply piping?

    Thanks in advance -

Those nuts are brass to brass so they aren't rusted in. Chip the plkaster out and squyrt some WD-40 on the threads.

No! I imagine the plaster was there because then valve wasn't properly backed and secured. Remove the plaster and secure the valve to a stud. Good luck, Tom
