My circuit breaker for my 5-ton heat pump blows every time it is turned on. Repairman said it would be the compressor, which is covered under a warranty still. Labor to replace is $1200. This seems a little steep to me seeing how he told me it would take only 3 hours, and a new compressor was $590 for parts originally. Seems like he is trying to make me foot the bill for the compressor. Is this about right? Also over the past 6 months have replaced just about everything on the outside unit.

It sounds like a rip off to me. I would get at least 2 more estimates.
