    In order for wellwater system to work does it have to have air
    OK I just moved in my new house when we looked at the house in July the well was working it has a sub pump we have been here for two months and went out to water the plants we are going to put out and the pump would not work I saw a crack in the pvc I fixed it and still won't work I was told in order for it to work I would have to put air in the tank and it should work if this is true please let me know I am knew at this I am trying to learn about my well system thanks

    A well for potable water and a sump pump for evacuating ground water are two different animals.
    Yes, a well for potable water needs are in the tank, (bladder style anyway).
    A sump pump for ground water should have a weep hole in the discharge pipe down close to the pump.

    Where was the crack? In the suction or the discharge line? Shut the pump off at the breaker box and open a clod eater faucet to bleed the pressure of. Now charge the bladder tank with 2 PSI under the cut in point of the control box. If your box reads 30/50 the tank should be charged at 28 PSI. Good luck, Tom
