US Resident Alien on F-1, wife on F-2 [has ITIN].Does she need ITIN ?
    Hi
I am an Indian citizen on F-1 in the US for the past 6 years. This year my status has changed to Resident Alien for Tax purpose. My wife is on F-2 and last year we filed 1040NR as married and got her an ITIN. This year I'm trying to file 1040EZ. My questions are:
1] Does my wife need to file 8843 ? [She has no income and is not allowed to work]
2] I tried to e-file Federal return twice using TurboTax, however the return gets rejected saying that my wife's Annual Gross Income for year 2008 doesn't match their records!
What should I do ? [I tried this using Married filing jointly status]

*] I called IRS and they asked me to file as Married filing separately. If I do this I'll actually have to pay money back to IRS and seems incorrect.

Can anyone please help me out ?

    Thanks a lot.

    1. No as you are filing joint return as residents.
    2. I have no idea about TurboTax problem. You can file paper return.
