Red wire from ceiling fixture. Does it get connected to black?
    Good evening,

I do realize it is late on a weekend. I just removed an old florcesent light from my kitchen. I was expecting the usual, one black bire, one white, and one ground. A simple connection. Black to black, white to white, and ground to ground screw on new fixture. However, I have two sets of wires hanging from the old fixture. Left wire: one black, one white, one ground. Right has one black, one white, and one red. Do I wire the white to white includeing the new fixture white, making three whites. then the black and red to the black wire on my new fixture.? I also twisted the three gronds with a twister, and attached the fre end to the grouns screw. When I turned on the power: well I got power OK, but I am unable to turn out the light using the existing switch. What would the proplem be here. I truly appreciate your time, and awiait your reply.

Impossible to tell with the information given. Since you did not note the connections when removing the old fixture, you must now remove the switch and tell us what wires are there and how they are connected.
