I'm rewiring my home to have recessed lighting and a ceiling fan in each room and want to use a single pole switch, but want to control the fan and recessed lighting separately. I was thinking of using a switch similar to the "Maestro Fan/Light Control" switch.

In looking at the wiring diagram, it doesn't appear this switch will do what I want. Does anyone know of a good looking switch that I can wire to do what I want? Thank you.

Why can't you use that switch? Lighting load limited to 300 watts.

That's fine... but how would I wire it?

It looks like the wall switch has the typical white, black, ground provisions, then the "canopy module" has black, white, red, and yellow. Would I just wire the three neutrals and grounds (canopy module, lights, and fan) together with wire nuts, then the black to the yellow for the fan, and black to the red for the lights?

You said you are rewiring. Are you taking power to the switch or to the ceiling fan/light?

I would advise against any option that involves a receiver, as there will be problems down the road.

Just run a separate wire for the fan and the lights and use two separate switches.

You will thank me later.
