I'm new at this so bear with me. My Snapper rider just quit in the middle of cutting grass and I had to disconnect the kill wire and then it worked fine. The engine blew up this year and I put a new engine on and the same thing happens when I hook up the kill wire.Any suggestions of how to fix this problem?

Look for a defective kill switch such as oil level, seat, transmission) etc.

Since the engine was replaced look for places where insulation may have been abraided.
