Apple help deskmy laptop a1107 won't charge
I have an apple laptop model a1107. We thought the battery failed so we replaced it. The computer worked fine with the new battery until it discharged, the powercord won't recharge it. I think the internal charge regulation system is bad. Can it be fixed? Would it be cheaper to just replace the computer?

    Hello Brian_m66.
I bought a laptop similar to the one that you have on eBay, and the plug in the back of the laptop became loose, check to see if the plug in the back is loose, if it is you can disassemble the laptop, and solder the loose connection. Best of luck to you.

Both the charger and the power port on the G4 notebooks have a high rate of failure. Check the power supply if it is running hot or if there is damage in the cord frm the brick to the computer that ca cause the failure to charge. Often the cable is broken right at the edge of the brick where the cable is wound around the cable keeper ears that fold out from the power supply. Storing your cable in this manner will cause a failure it is just a matter of when not if. Also visually inspect the cable tip where it plugs into the laptop these are often bent. If it is bent replace the charger, though the tip can be bent back to a position that will allow charging the tip being out of line will ware the power connection on the laptop and cause it ti eventually become unserviceable.
If it is the case that the power plug on the motherboard is loose resodering is your only option short of replacing the motherboard. These were nice laptops however the charger is not so nice
