Eating Raw Hamburger. Okay or Not?
    Hi, All!

When I was much younger, one of the things that my friends and I would like to do would be to eat raw hamburger between crackers and have some beers. Those things just made a wonderful combination for taste!

We had no ill effects, except for maybe drinking a bit too much! That combination of food and drink seems to have been a tradition with many people.

Would be eating raw hamburger something that would or would not be advisable in this day and age?

    Thanks!

I like meat red... but I'm cautious about hamburger in the stores if I don't know when it was made.

That said, I've no fear of "undercooked" steak... raw tenderloin is good, tho' I prefer it seared, and its not uncommon to use minced tenderloin for steak tartare.

Generally... if there's a lot of surface area, like with ground meat, the sooner you eat it after grinding, the less chance there is of bacterial proliferation.
