Does anyone know about the "65% bill" for prison time, what it entails, where to find information on it, and whether it has passed?
Hello M:
No. I haven't heard of it. What state?

We live in New York state, but he is a federal prisoner
Hello again, M:
I still haven't heard of it... It MIGHT be the overhaul of the criminal justice system bill introduced by Virginia Senator Jim Webb. I don't know if it included THAT proposition... But, it didn't pass yet.
So, it's my information that federal prisoners still do 85% of their time.

Thank you for your help. The information I have found states that this is all rumored.
Not Rumored, Google FAMM, they are a support group that is working with Jim Webb, VA Senator to revamp the judicial system. The 65% is in the works, but probably won't be this year... go to the website and look for the paper they publish "FAMMGram." My son is in prison for 3rd DUI... 2.5 years.
JR... thanks for the information I did go to the website and found it to be an interesting website and has a lot of information, however I still really did not find the information about the 65% bill, but you did answer my question it hasn't passed yet. Thanks, my friend was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison for sale of 5gm of cocaine to a CI. The federal government loves to tack on conspiracy charges which then increases the sentence. He has served 30 months so far. I wish you the best and hope your son does well.
Thank you... just talking about it helps.
Also, check this website out
Virginia Criminal Sentencing Commission
The bill is HR 1475, it has not been voted on as of yet, it has been at a stand still since April 2009
And it appears to be a state issue, so it would not effect federal sentencing
